Description

13– 12th centuries BC, Artik

The animal’s legs are slightly bent, the mouth is half open; a ring hangs from the lower lip. Three spiky carved rings collar its high neck. The goat belonged to the middle, i.e. the solar and stellar spheres, playing the role of mediators between the top and the bottom. It embodied the Sun and elemental forces: thunder, lightning and water. It conditioned fertility and life on earth.
